Nele De Gols

Nele De Gols studied law in Leuven and started her internship as an lawyer at COTTYN in 1995, with Mr. Nestor Roseleth as principal.

After her internship, Nele continued to work as a lawyer for several years: first as in-house and then freelance.

This was followed by a period of employment as a staff member at the Association of Flemish Cities and Municipalities, after which she returned to COTTYN in 2005 as Office Manager.

In addition to providing administrative management and support, she had the special task of focusing on internal organisation, structures, workflows, automation, implementation of integrated software packages, and efficient use of new media, such as e-mail and the internet, and the use of other technical aids that radically changed administrative and accounting work.

COTTYN’s aim of evolving into a modern and efficient office was thus realised.

Nele in her own words

Within COTTYN, I am responsible for quality assurance, monitoring new technical developments, evaluating and adjusting existing practices, training new colleagues and testing updates of the software package Cicero Law Pack (in order to use it as efficiently and extensively as possible within our operations).

As chief accounting officer, I supervise the year-end procedures and am on standby for any questions and problems my colleagues may have. I also take care of the financial entries in CollectOnline (the bulk collection software package that COTTYN works with).

In general, I am a helpline for colleagues when they get stuck in existing ways of working, or face new situations. Often this moment is the time to adjust the workflow or integrate new capabilities.

Looking at a problem from many angles is my strongest point.

“No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it” Einstein once said.

This is a guiding principle for me, both in life and work.

It always remains a challenge, but I like that.
