Thomas Matthys

 

After successfully completing a short internship at COTTYN, Thomas Matthys joined the Belgian firm’s administrative team in 2011. At first, his duties consisted of designing and modifying document templates and being on first call for basic technical assistance.

Over the years, his expertise in Microsoft Office software became more noticed and he was able to take full advantage of his talents in formatting all kinds of documents and templates customised for administrative clerks, lawyers, foreign partners and clients.

Thomas has since become an key figure for his colleagues in Aalst. His main responsibility is overseeing the firm’s IT and ICT department together with the partner in charge, Thierry Hermans.

Being able to provide day-to-day assistance to colleagues, both technical and administrative, is what drives him to give his all to the job. Thomas Matthys is also responsible for many other things, including monitoring suppliers (ordering and negotiating new contracts), keeping the website up to date, modernising and computerising the company. He is a backup for numerous colleagues and their tasks and assists his colleagues in the business development and marketing department, where he regularly offers advice and assistance with organising events, business trips, etc.

Providing support as a jack-of-all-trades, so that his colleagues can in turn give the best of themselves to provide assistance to our clients, is Thomas’s role in the COTTYN team.

Thomas in his own words

I am a motivated person who likes to get the most out of what I do, in my case software. At COTTYN, I get the opportunities to apply my skills to the fullest. This allows me to design concepts and manage projects even though this is not always a daily task job but certainly something I can fully develop in the office.

‘You only make progress when every mistake is a new one.

Even though I do not have direct contact with our clients, my goal is to make all our office and work processes run as smoothly as possible. That way I too contribute to excellent service.

While assisting and supporting my colleagues, I can make full use of my experience. When an employee raises an issue, my job is to put all the puzzle pieces in the right place. That’s precisely my professional passion.
